Hockey in Poland has a long tradition, however when a Pole says “hockey” he thinks of hockey on ice, whereas hockey on a field is played outdoors, while there is another variation called“unihockey, and this one is played indoors. it is a relatively new sport to Poles, as the official Polish Association of field hockey was only created in 1995. For a country which is still quite new to the sport the national team does ok, with the men’s team currently ranked 19 in the world. The best era for the women’s team came in 1980 when they qualified for the Olympics in Moscow. It turned out to be the team’s only appearance at the games so far.
