Rugby in Poland has a long tradition, dating as early as 1922, but has never become a sport “for all”- it’s been always a sport for selected elites, and people with a passion. The top league in Poland is still amateur, but that’s not to say it’s not competitive with clubs travelling all over the country to compete with each other. Teams in Poland are made up mainly of Polish players, with a few ex-pats as well. Rugby is certainly one of the fastest growing sports in Poland. The national team are also improving all the time, reaching the second round in the qualifying tournament for the world cup, however they fell just short. It is their dream to one day make it to the World Cup finals. The most famous Polish rugby player was Grzegorz Kacala, who won the Heineken Cup whilst playing in France for CA Brive. The strongest level of rugby in Poland is nowadays is Gdansk and three city area, with Warsaw coming next, then Krakow and then Wroclaw. Here at Sports Tour Poland we are recommended by PZR (Polish Rugby Union), and we co-operate with them in securing all the necessary paperwork required to play rugby in Poland. Please find below a copy of our recommendation letter from PZR
